WHAT IS PARTS PRO?
The technical name for this type of organization is "Programmed Distribution." It is similar to a cooperative, owned by the warehouse distributors. The goal is to enhance the purchasing power of each member warehouse, and to share certain operating expenses, to better their competitive position in its marketing area. The savings are passed on to the local independent retailers (Parts Pro Performance Centers), which improves their competitive position. Parts Pro is dedicated to making local brick and mortar retail businesses viable and profitable. To that end we provide special pricing, data and marketing information, and other information and tools exclusively to our affiliated stores. Parts Pro also creates a full complement of marketing materials that are designed to identify our retailers with performance products and expose store shoppers to a broad, high quality product mix at very competitive prices.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
ABOUT THE PARTS PRO MARKETING PROGRAM
Q. I already belong to a PROGRAMMED DISTRIBUTION organization (Car quest, Bumper to Bumper, Pronto, etc..), will I have to resign from that program?
A. Absolutely not. Many retailers take advantage of the strengths of both. AAM/Parts Pro is designed to work with any programs you may be on now!
Q. Then are you not talking about converting completely to an AAM/Parts Pro store?
A. No. We suggest an AAM/Parts Pro Performance Center within your store.
Q. Wouldn't that require a new, large investment on my part?
A. Not necessarily. One of the major advantages of joining with us in the AAM/Parts Pro program is that you stock only a representative sampling of the most popular numbers. Your Parts Pro warehouse will back you up, with product, on an overnight basis, and in some cases the same day!
Q. Am I required to carry particular items?
A. No, but we will help with suggestions on inventory needs and items that are being advertised. Also, we will inform you in advance which items will be advertised nationally by AAM/Parts Pro as well as any local advertising that Parts Pro does on your behalf
Q. Then you're not planning to "down-load" me with product?
A. Absolutely not! What you decide to stock is your business. However, you will find that a representative inventory will help out!
Q. I do a great deal of local advertising, will the national AAM/Parts Pro advertising be substituted for my local advertising?
A. No. All of AAM/Parts Pro advertising is provided in addition to your local advertising and we will be working with you and other jobbers on special regional promotions which will add still more exposure to the local and national advertising efforts.
Q. Does competitive price advertising mean I have to give up all my profit to take part in this program?
A. No. We will offer some selected "shopper stopper" prices. Our goal is to never advertise anything that portrays you as more expensive than your competition. Most advertised items will afford you a fair profit margin, keeping in mind they are advertised items and you have to be competitive.
Q. Will all the parts stores in my area wind up being AAM/Parts Pro retailers?
A. DEFINITELY NOT!! AAM/Parts Pro is not being offered to just anyone! Only a few select, forward-looking, progressive retailers are being offered this golden opportunity.
Q. What extra charges are there for participation in AAM/Parts Pro?
A. The monthly fee includes in-store signs, window signs, custom imprinted monthly sale tabloids, shelf talkers and custom Internet advertising. Additional charges are incurred for promotional items from the apparel catalog. |
